Like many other great ideas, BLAST! grew organically out of an odd series of events. In 1994 when Amadeus Consulting was formed we thought it was important to make a positive impact on the environment. Back then, almost no one thought about the environment and it was challenging to make even the smallest progress. As Amadeus Consulting grew so did its passion for the environment. In 2007 we won an award for diverting 90% of our trash away from landfills. Our 50 employees generate only one bag of trash per week.
After winning that award we started receiving phone calls from other companies asking us to help them take action. We soon realized companies had the desire to become "green" but were missing the knowhow. We knew we could assist and guide them, so in the spring of 2008 we put our heads together and wrote down everything we do regarding sustainability.
Amadeus Consulting decided to turn the idea into a not-for-profit community based program so we could draw on everyone's experience and make an even bigger impact. At that moment, BLAST! (Business Leaders in Action for Sustainability Today) was formed. In 2009 we used our technical software development expertise to build a Web site portal for this effort - so WELCOME to BLAST!
