BLAST! is a network of businesses seeking to implement Zero-Waste practices within their work environment. Boulder-based custom software development company Amadeus Consulting created BLAST! from the idea that many companies are looking for concrete and specific steps they can easily begin to improve their sustainability efforts. Together this community makes an enormous impact in saving the environment. If every company in the country follows the BLAST! Community’s action plans 90% of landfill waste could be diverted!
Zero-Waste has been defined by the Zero Waste International Alliance as:
“…a goal that is ethical, economical, efficient and visionary, to guide people in changing their lifestyles and practices to emulate sustainable natural cycles, where all discarded materials are designed to become resources for others to use. Zero Waste means designing and managing products and processes to systematically avoid and eliminate the volume and toxicity of waste and materials, conserve and recover all resources, and not burn or bury them. Implementing Zero Waste will eliminate all discharges to land, water or air that are a threat to planetary, human, animal or plant health.”
To become involved in BLAST! companies are provided a free Zero-Waste training and included in the community of like-minded businesses contributing ideas to create a better, cleaner, and greener work environment. Each company involved has something unique to contribute. We encourage you to take a look around. Members will receive one-on-one training from an existing community member along with ideas on how to start today.
